Vision & Values
Blackshaw Moor CofE First School caters for pupils aged between 3 and 9 years. Many of our pupils come from Blackshaw Moor and the villages of Thorncliffe, Meerbrook and Upperhulme. There are several pupils who travel in from Flash and Leek.
The school is set in a beautiful location between the Roaches on the edge of the Peak District National Park and Tittesworth Reservoir among the rolling hills of the Staffordshire Moorlands. The school has hard working, dedicated teachers who are highly experienced in teaching mixed age, mixed ability classes and who are committed to ensuring that each child can flourish and reach their full potential both academically and socially.
We provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment and pride ourselves on the family atmosphere and the effective working relationships between pupils and teachers which enable pupils to develop the skills, knowledge, attitudes and values necessary to build a successful future.
We are happy to welcome visitors and parents of prospective pupils to our school to meet the staff and pupils and see what we have to offer.
Our School Motto
“Learning together, rooted in God”
Our Bible Phrase
That you shall have life, life in all its fullness. (John 10:10)
A prayer written by a child age 5:
Please God and Jesus, look after the children and everyone, Amen
Our School Vision
At Blackshaw Moor CofE First School we inspire all to flourish through learning together, and with God’s help and love, have life in all its fullness
Our School Aims
We will achieve our vision by:
- Valuing each child as an individual with particular talents and needs;
- Displaying positive attitudes towards all children and ensuring mutual respect and consideration;
- Serving our local community and encouraging children to take a full part in the local area and beyond;
- Working together for the benefit of all members of our school community so that everyone will develop high moral and ethical standards with empathy for others;
- recognising the contribution our parents and community members can make towards our children’s learning and development;
- Instilling the love of learning through the experiences we offer.
Our School Values
We aspire to live our lives following the values of:
- Courage – overcoming fear and finding strength to do things that may seem hard
- Trust – being reliable, consistent and having integrity
- Compassion – showing kindness and empathy and being caring
- Friendship – having a relationship built on understanding and sharing in harmony
- Truthfulness – being honest, open and sincere
- Respect – showing consideration of the feelings, wishes or rights of other people
Equal Opportunities
We are an inclusive school where all children have the opportunity to participate fully in school life and have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, regardless of academic ability, religion, physical ability, gender or ethnic origin. All children are valued, whatever needs they have, and we aim to create an environment within our school which will enable all pupils to learn to the best of their ability.
