Head Teacher & Foundation Stage Teacher
Mrs Crawforth
I’m Sam Crawforth and have worked at the school since January 1996. Although I started as a Teaching Assistant, I was given the opportunity to complete teacher training and qualified in 2005. I became the Early Years Foundation Stage teacher and thoroughly enjoyed this role, taking on more responsibility within the school as I gained more experience. I was appointed Headteacher in September 2017. I still enjoy teaching 2 days a week as it gives me the opportunity to get to know all the children very well from their very first days in school, and to influence their educational journey.

I'm Nicola Frost and have been at Blackshaw Moor since September 2012. My role is very busy and varied, which keeps me very busy. I enjoy working at the school as it’s a beautiful place to be and the children are amazing. In my spare time I love walking with my dogs and enjoy listening to music.

I'm Donna Garnett and I've worked at Blackshaw Moor since November 2023. My role is part time Clerical assistant. I love the challenges working in a small school. I enjoy gardening at my allotment and spending time with my family.

Mrs Picken
I’m Julie Picken and I have been teaching at Blackshaw Moor School since 1997. I began as a full time teacher in Key Stage 2 and now share teaching responsibility in Key Stage 1. I’ve loved working with both age ranges! I am also the Special Education Needs Coordinator and have the responsibility as the subject coordinator for ICT and Science. I am the teachers representative on the Governing body.

Mrs Worrall
I'm Claire Worrall and I have been teaching for the last 20 years and was lucky enough to start at Blackshaw Moor School in September 2017. I teach full time in key Stage 2, Wise Owls. I love working with children of this age and seeing their confidence grow in preparation for the next part in their educational journey, this has to be one of the best parts of my job. I am responsible for leading the Key stage 2 curriculum and particularly enjoy teaching Art, History and Maths

I'm Ruth Knott and I job share as an Early Years Teacher. I have been at Blackshaw Moor School as a teacher since 2014. I am the PE lead and Mental Health Lead. I enjoy spending time with my horses and dogs.

I'm Suzanne Cordon I coordinate PSHE and RSHE across the school and work part time, teaching in Key stage 1 and 2. In my spare time I love being outside, walking and visiting new places!

I’m Emma Goldstraw I have been a teaching assistant at Blackshaw Moor School since 2006. I work in EYFS supporting the children’s learning. I am also a former pupil of the school.

I'm Nicola Gordon and I joined Blackshaw Moor School in 2013. I am the KS1 and EYFS teaching assistant. I am married and have two children. I enjoy family time and travelling. I find my role very rewarding as I am able to watch the children develop and grow.

I'm Vicki Shaw and I have worked at Blackshaw Moor First School since 2016. I am a teaching assistant in Wise Owls but also support children from Clever Cats and Busy Bees.

I'm Sophie Garnett and I have worked at Blackshaw Moor First School since 2024. I am a teaching assistant supporting all year groups and I do forest schools on a Friday with them all. I am also studying at Derby University. I was also a pupil at this school.
