Mrs Crawforth Head Teacher & Foundation Stage Teacher

I’m Sam Crawforth and have worked at Blackshaw Moor First School since January 1996 starting as a Teaching Assistant, qualifying as a teacher whilst working and was appointed the Headteacher in September 2017. As it is a small school, I also teach part-time in the Foundation Stage class which combines nursery and reception children. Nursery children ca attend up to 15 or 30 hours depending on the funding and are able to come for all of part of a day depending on the needs of each family. Reception children are full time. I am the Foundation Stage Coordinator for the school and in addition to this, I am also the coordinator for RE and Worship, Design and Technology and CPD. I feel lucky to have a job that I really enjoy, in a school that I love, and I intend to ensure that every child has the best possible experience at our school to enable them to grow and learn and reach their full potential.

Mrs Frost – Schools Office Manager

I'm Nicola Frost and have been at Blackshaw Moor since September 2012. My role is very busy and varied, which keeps me very busy. I enjoy working at the school as it’s a beautiful place to be and the children are amazing. In my spare time I love walking with my dogs and enjoy listening to music.

Mrs Garnett - Clerical Assistant

I'm Donna Garnett and I've worked at Blackshaw Moor since November 2023. My role is part time Clerical assistant.

Mrs Picken – KS1 Teacher and SENCO

I’m Julie Picken and I have been teaching at Blackshaw Moor School since 1997. I began as a full time teacher in Key Stage 2 and now share teaching responsibility in Key Stage 1. I’ve loved working with both age ranges! I am also the Special Education Needs Coordinator and have the responsibility as the subject coordinator for ICT and Science. I am the teachers representative on the Governing body.

Mrs Worrall – Key Stage 2 Teacher

I have been teaching for the last 20 years and was lucky enough to start at Blackshaw Moor School in September 2017. I teach full time in key Stage 2, Wise Owls. I love working with children of this age and seeing their confidence grow in preparation for the next part in their educational journey, this has to be one of the best parts of my job. I am responsible for leading the subjects of Art, History and Maths.

Mrs Knott – Foundation Stage KS1/2 Teacher

I job share as Early Years Teacher. I am the PE lead and Mental Health Lead.

Mrs Cordon – KS1/KS2 Teacher

I coordinate PSHE and RSHE across the school and work part time, teaching in Key stage 1 and 2. In my spare time I love being outside, walking and visiting new places!

Mrs Goldstraw – Teaching Assistant

I’m Emma Goldstraw I have been a teaching assistant at Blackshaw Moor School since 2006. I work in EYFS supporting the children’s learning. I am also a former pupil of the school.

Mrs Gordon – Teaching Assistant

I'm Nicola Gordon and I joined Blackshaw Moor School in 2013. I am the KS1 and EYFS teaching assistant. I am married and have two children. I enjoy family time and travelling. I find my role very rewarding as I am able to watch the children develop and grow.

Mrs Shaw – Teaching Assistant and Catering Supervisor

I'm Vicki Shaw. I have worked at Blackshaw Moor First School since 2016. I am a teaching assistant in Wise Owls but also support children from Clever Cats and Busy Bees.
